They don't come as big as this one any more; solid dark orange-red crystal with contact terminations at both ends and with some minor natural etching and coating of some dark mineral on the opposite side, collected last century in early thirties. Frank Mihajlowitz specimen.

The transparent to translucent opal coating on two sides of the chocolate brown ironstone matrix is showing a colourful display, a variation of milky, blue, and green shades of the precious opal from Queensland. Three sides have been sawn to remove the excess matrix.

Nice spray of acicular inesite needles to 30 mm sitting on top of white fluorapophyllite on typical matrix from classic Australian location.

Chrysoprase   

50 km South of Mt Newman, Pilbara Region, Western Australia.

How good is this one? Mother Nature's sculpture of a gem quality delicate green Chrysoprase coated with white chalky disordered Illite. There is also some pale blue-grey thin layers of botryoidal chalcedony that fluoresce bright green, probably due to uranium as a minor impurity, as well as some drusy, dark grey-purple quartz on the pale blue-grey Chalcedony. You can display it, cut lots of nice gems, or carve it into your own creation.

Another outstanding display piece from this classic Western Australian location. The specimen saw the light of the day in mid eighties and consists of a great calcite cluster that is completely covered on the display site with sparkling micro crystals. Richard Wright collection.
